Success means having the courage, the determination, and the will to become the person you believe you were meant to be.
George Sheehan
Had you told me a year ago that I would be spending New Years Eve with my mom and dad in Long Beach; I would have said you were crazy. But it happened. I just spent three really great days with my parents. Here I sit thinking about what just happened knowing there has been a huge shift in my life.
This thing that could never happen happened. How many things do you write off in your life? How many times do you catch yourself saying, “that can’t happen” or “that will never happen?” We limit ourselves. We don’t want to believe, because what if we believe and it doesn’t come true. Belief is the foundation for our journey. It takes courage to be the person that you know you can be. It takes standing up sometimes when you don’t want to. It takes being calm when you want to react.
Sometimes I think we are standing too close to something that we can’t see the whole picture. We base our wants and needs based on a very finite view. My father coming to visit me here in California after 17 years was what needed to happen for him. He wasn’t ready sooner and maybe I wasn’t either. Life has a way of playing out and when we can let it and not continually react but observe and shift, you can start to see change. You can start to see that everything happens exactly as it is supposed to. My dad came at just the right time. More and more and I am seeing that everything happens at just the right moment. I am accepting more and pausing before jumping to my own conclusions. This space between chaos and peace is widening. Peace is becoming the order of my day.
It’s a wonderful feeling to be at peace. You must first believe that you can have that peace, no matter what the outside circumstances are. Know that who you are becoming is your own masterpiece. You have so many gifts to give the world. So go out and give them.
Today I am grateful for my abundant life. Today I am grateful for having a peaceful holiday season. I am grateful for the love I feel.
