The highest reward for a person’s toil is not what they get for it, but what they become by it. Josh Ruskin
It’s a new year, a new day and the question is-- Who are you becoming? In the face of what you are being met with today, who are you going to show up as? We tend to not ask ourselves these questions. We tend to wake up and barrel through our day as if a day is indispensible.
Stop and take notice of what’s around you. Stop and notice what you are willing to sweep under the rug. Who are you becoming? Who are you being? Life shows up in many ways and in the moment that you experience something that challenges your calm center, who do you become? When do you say to yourself this is different? It’s that moment that we make exceptions for ourselves to play it small and become irrational that our ego is taking over and calling the shots. In the face of every great tragedy, every disappointment, every time something doesn’t go your way—there lies an opportunity to push through something. The challenge is to do your best to remain calm. The challenge is to refrain from reaction and put space between what just happened and how you feel about it. It’s not that you aren’t going to react, its about the time it takes to get back to your center.
This year let’s focus on creating a peaceful center and learn how to stay there.
Today, I am grateful for new opportunities to grow my business. I am grateful to be my own boss.
