You must take personal responsibility. You cannot change the circumstances, the seasons, or the wind, but you can change yourself. That is something you have charge of.”
Jim Rohn
I’m back from Hawaii. Back in the place where I write listening to my music finding my center. I am keenly aware of how much my surroundings affect me. But also very aware that wherever you go, there you are. It’s all me. Ashley by the water, Ashley on the couch in Long Beach, Ashley working on a computer, Ashley supporting someone…these are all aspects of me and each brings out a different part of me. And the more that I see that I am susceptible to whatever environment I put myself in, the more I am making better choices about my environment.
So the question for you is- what’s your environment like? Does your life work for you? Are you living the life you want to live? It’s important to look at what you have set up, because whether you like it or not this is the life that you created. Some things we create blindly, some by default and some with our eyes wide open. In all accounts, it’s your creation. So if we actually create the life we are living then you would think we would never complain or be upset. Not so, because we don’t actually take responsibility for our lives. (Sorry for the sting) We like to blame where we are on anything or anyone that could be seen as the cause. THIS IS YOUR LIFE! You created every facet of it. So if you are unhappy with any part of it then do something about it. If you have worked your way into a corner then change your perception of it. Nothing on the outside is going to make you better. You are the only one that can make you better.
Being responsible for your life can you give you freedom. You just have to get past the discomfort of accepting where you are as your creation. Once you can do that, then life is yours for the making. It’s a wonderful place to be to accept and stop blaming.
Today, every time you want to blame someone for anything, hold back and tell yourself “I accept responsibility for all of my actions even the ones I don’t want to own yet”
Today I am grateful for my blog because it keeps me accountable.
