"Flow with whatever is happening and let your mind be free. Stay centered by accepting whatever you are doing. This is the ultimate." Chuang Tzu
There will always be ups and downs in life. Life happens, things happen and it’s all in how we deal with what’s happening. I can’t help but be inspired by a story I recently heard about a 14 year boy, William Kamkwamba, living in the village of Malawi in Africa. His family was deeply affected by the drought and was forced to remove him from secondary school due to the fact they had no money. They were living off of one meal a day. William had a natural curiosity about how things work. From a young age he started taking things apart to learn the inner workings and mechanics of any sort of electronic he could get his hands on. Once removed from school William started going to the library every day. He started reading American Physics textbooks. He was drawn to a book on windmills. Now he didn’t speak nor read English. He started translating every word and learned to read the diagrams. After much time he set out to build his own windmill. He had an idea that he could bring electricity to his home. He focused and out of nothing he created more than most in a lifetime. He built a windmill from scraps in the local junkyard. He powered his home. This is such an amazing accomplishment for a boy who by all accounts had very little. He is now 22 years old and dedicated to power his whole village. I am just so touched by this story. Is he an extraordinary human, absolutely but he does he have something that we don’t? I’m not sure. When we hear of a story like this where someone beats incredible odds we tend to write it off like it’s a once in a lifetime thing. That he had something special. Well I believe what he had is what is inside of all of us; we just choose not to activate it. We are all born with our own unique expression of our gifts and talents yet we spend most of our life denying them.
Think about this, if your circumstances in your life dictate your life than you are probably not tapping into your potential. Whatever cards you have been dealt there is a way to come out and come out ahead. If you learn to flow with your life and stop resisting what is, life can start to look differently. Whatever your struggle is, whatever is keeping you down is held in place by your unwillingness to change. If you allow the flow to happen in your life and stop reacting to every little thing that shows up, you can have more freedom than you have ever imagined.
Today, flow with your day and let things roll off your back. Getting upset only hurts you. Just let go today and enjoy what comes your way.
Today I am grateful for the beautiful day.
