Authentic joy is not a euphoric state or a feeling of being high. Rather, it is a state of appreciation that allows us to participate fully in our lives.
-Pema Chodron
I love this quote. I have never seen it before and I think it just moved into my top 10.
Full participation in our life will bring us joy not all of the thinking and analyzing and figuring it out that we so often get caught up in. It’s another reminder that by stopping and appreciating what you have, you can tap into an inner joy that isn’t attached to anything. It’s only being highlighted by your attention on what is. We really struggle with this. We really want to go outside of ourselves to find the joy. We insist that things need to be different to be happy. How much time do you spend trying to figure out how to change things (or someone) so that you can be happy?
I chose the topic of joy today because I think joy defines the place of complete serenity without regard for circumstance. When I see joy I am deeply moved. When I see someone in their joy I am able to tap into my own. The thing about joy is that you can only have it when you give up having the power. Do you want to be right, do you want to know it all or do you want to have joy in your life?
The topic of joy inspired me so I decided to create a project, a video project where I could express joy. I want to create something that inspires you through every sense. I want to tap into joy. I want to capture joy. I want to show expressions of people that define living in the moment. I am really excited and profoundly joyful just living in the possibility of it. This blog has given me so much and I am extremely grateful. I am living a life that I love. I get to be me. I don’t have another plan. I am all in and it’s such an amazing freeing joyful place. I highly recommend it. I want all of you to tap into that part of you that is trying to express itself. The time is now. The joy is yours.
Today, I challenge you to find your joy right where you are with all that is you. You are an amazing human being, tap into that today!
Today, I am grateful for the nudges and the reminders. I have never felt so free and excited about where I am in my life. Thank you for taking the journey with me.
My joy right now is reading how excited you are about life--living free and wide open. What an amazing gift your friendship has been....thanks for revealing your gifts so beautifully! Ann
