What a great way to wrap up the week, talk about ego. I saw this quote and was immediately taken by it. It’s great to have questions you can ask yourself. Are you trying to be in control? Now this one is usually a quick yes. I mean who isn’t seeking to be in control of something or someone. This is the ego driving. The ego wants to be the driver yet we get confused by this thinking that its leadership. The way you can tell if you are just being a good leader or wanting control is too look at your attachment to it. If you can let go of something and let someone else take the lead than you’re in good shape. When you are gripping something so tight then this is usually a sign of control. Just take a look today where you need to control a situation or someone else and ask yourself, “Can I let go right now” If the idea of the question makes you uneasy then you might have something to look at.
Do you have a need for approval? Every time you do something, are you looking for someone to say “you did a good job” Do you need someone to say that you are worthy to feel worthy? The ego likes us to believe that we aren’t good enough and that we need to find someone outside of us to say that we are. It’s a farce and a never ending journey if you are always looking outside of you to get approval. The only one that can give you peace and confidence- is you. You are good enough, worthy enough, and valuable to the people around you. You knowing that will make all the difference in the world.
Finally there is judgment. How often are you in judgment? We fear our own worth yet we want to be the judge of someone else’s. We have this need to judge everyone around us instantly. We are constantly comparing ourselves, making ourselves less than or better than. We do it so quickly it’s hard to even notice. I think that when you get that people are exactly where they are supposed to be, having the experiences they need to have to best benefit their own growth. It emphasizes the natural order of things. It’s kind of like minding your own business. If your mind is focused on making you the best you and being a contribution to the planet than there leaves little time to be in judgment. People need your support not your opinion. Opinions are asked for when someone doesn’t feel judged.
The bottom line is that when you are busy outside of yourself you are not growing. You are projecting everything outward expecting inward results. So ask yourself these questions and be willing to answer honestly. I will do the same.
Today I am grateful for everything always working out. I am grateful that all my needs are met.
