peacefulness

When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace.
Jimi Hendrix

I have been talking about peace a lot lately. I think that having peace of mind is the first step to having a peaceful existence. In this society it is very easy to get caught up in the world of desiring things and power. We were taught at a young age that we had to kick and push our way to the top. What if that doesn’t bring you peace of mind? Are you willing to give that up? Are you willing to look at the possibility that this need in most of us to have power and to be right blocks us from having a life that exudes joy?

More and more in my life I am learning to let go. I am learning that I am able to bounce back to my center quicker and quicker. I am starting to actually feel relief that I don’t have to carry the burden of being right. And don’t think I am not challenged often. I am just fighting for my peace more than I ever have. I am understanding that without it I am flailing about without a sense of direction.

The question for you is—are you at peace? Do you feel good about who you are and what you are up to? Think about that today.

Today I am grateful for the peace I feel for being right where I am.
