Easy or Hard?

“It may be our actions that define us, but it is our reaction that changes the course of things.”
Dianna Hardy

Is life easy or is life hard?  It's your choice.

If life is hard it's because you are resisting what is and you are fighting back either mentally or physically.  Shit happens. Getting upset happens. People will cross you and accidents happen. Life happens and it's in the seconds after it happens that your fate is decided.  The moment you choose to hold on to something and be upset about it and then find agreement for your being upset --is the moment that life becomes hard.  The "what happened" doesn't cause the unending pain, it's your choice to get angry and to spin out that causes the pain. Sadness from loss is different. Loss is a process but anger has a life all on its own and it resides in your head.

It may sound impossible to not react in a big way when something bad has happened in your life but it is something to think about. I am just challenging you to see your part in how life shows up for you. If someone cuts you off while driving and you get angry and fight back or maybe chase them down or just yell about it and proceed to tell others then you are choosing to take that event and multiply it.  How many situations do you multiply in your life?  What I mean is, how often do you amplify your problems?

Now instead of letting your mind play out the scenario that I've just described, what if you could press the PAUSE button?  In the moment that something happens and you want to get upset, press PAUSE and give yourself a second to choose. You may still choose to flip out, but at least you can start to see that it's your choice. Your automatic reactions are what get you in trouble. What does that really mean when you say "I'm having a bad day, a bad month or even a bad year"?  What are you choosing for yourself? If you are struggling, there is another way out than having to accept the struggle as the only way.  It starts first with your thoughts and recognizing that you have a choice in how you perceive and react to things around you.  Your reaction is everything. What you choose to focus on will be a direct reflection of your life and if it is in fact easy or hard.  I challenge you today to seek out all the things in your life that work and all of the things that bring you joy and then tell me if there is a difference in how your day unfolds. I would love feedback from you.
