Trust your hopes, not your fears.
David Mahoney
I had this quote on my bathroom mirror probably 10 years ago and when I just came across it, it sort of jolted me. You forget. How many of us put all of our trust in what we fear? It comes so natural to have fear and doubt that you don’t even realize when it’s happening. You can think you have mastered something as I thought I had all those years ago only to read again and realize how fear is a constant presence in my life. Obviously there is good fear like the jaws of a shark or the edge of a cliff but the question is when does fear become relevant. Never touching the water because of the fear of a shark robs you of the opportunity to experience the water. Just like starting your own business might be terrifying but having never tried would rob you of the experience and opportunity to set out on your own. Pushing past fear gives you something that you can’t get from thinking something thru or imagining it, only in the walk thru the fear will you evolve and grow and become everything you were meant to be.
Everyday do something that scares you and I guarantee that your life will not be the same. You will be liberated and unrecognizable even to yourself. Keep in mind this isn't about danger, this is about walking thru personal fears like speaking in public or being assertive or maybe for you its going to a movie by yourself. The idea is to push thru and let me know how it goes. I will do the same.
Today I am grateful for the space to write and for the inspiration to do so.
